MIGHT RAMBLE · PRIVACY
Your privacy.
This page explains the independent Might Ramble email list and basic website statistics, managed by Mitchell Penningroth.
What you’re signing up for
New writing, podcast episodes, and occasional updates about the project. Joining here is separate from subscribing on Substack or following the show on another platform.
What the form keeps
Your email address, signup date, the form you used, the consent wording you agreed to, and your subscription status. The site also uses temporary, pseudonymous request identifiers to limit spam. The signup form does not verify ownership of an email inbox.
How the list is used
The list is used for Might Ramble email updates. Subscriber records are stored in the website’s hosted database through ChatGPT Sites and Cloudflare. Mitchell can view and export them for an email delivery service. The list is not displayed publicly. When signup alerts are enabled, your email address and signup time are sent privately to Mitchell through Resend, the email delivery service.
Leaving the list
Unsubscribe here at any time. An opt-out record is retained so a repeated signup does not put you back on the list. If you want to rejoin, or would like your email and associated records deleted, contact mitchellpenningroth@gmail.com.
This form does not change your existing Substack subscription. Manage that subscription through Substack.
Basic website statistics
Might Ramble uses its own small analytics system to understand which pages are useful and whether visitors open an episode, join the email list, or visit the contribution checkout. Aggregate statistics are stored in the website’s database through ChatGPT Sites and Cloudflare and are visible only to the authorized site owner. No third-party advertising tracker is added.
The analytics system counts pageviews and selected link clicks, estimates daily visitors, and groups traffic by broad referral source, device type, and country when available. It does not retain raw IP addresses, complete browser identification strings, full referral URLs, search terms, or email addresses. It does not record the contents of forms or join browsing activity to subscriber records.
To estimate daily visitors without tracking cookies, the server temporarily processes the network address and browser identification string into a keyed identifier that changes each Austin calendar day. Daily identifiers and duplicate-request checks are short-lived and cleaned up as the site receives requests. Aggregate counts are kept for up to one year. These estimates can count the same person more than once or combine people sharing a connection.
The site honors browser Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals by skipping analytics. You can also exclude this browser below. That choice saves a local preference, not a tracking identifier. It applies only to this browser and device. If you clear browser storage, you may need to choose it again.
Clicking a link to Stripe, Substack, or another service opens that service, whose own privacy practices apply. Contribution-link clicks do not reveal whether a payment was completed.
